An innovative creative marketer

Nicki Woodlock

I am a senior marketing leader and ex-designer who has been living in Sydney since 2005, where I’ve gained international marketing and creative experience working for large premium global brands and a few tech start-ups. Plus, I have also owned my own creative and app businesses Supr and Splendrous. I’m currently the Head of Growth Marketing at VeVe.

I’m a strategic, commercially-minded senior marketing leader with a strong mix of marketing strategy, leadership and design skills. I have extensive experience driving growth, delivering marketing strategies, delivering creative, managing campaigns, and managing brands for multi-billion dollar global companies and small start-ups; B2C (10yrs); VeVe, Supr, Splendrous, Harmoney ($78 million), American Express ($206 billion), Samsung ($1203 trillion), and B2B (9 yrs) Employment Hero ($2 billion), CommBank ($289 billion), Nasdaq ($49.26 billion), Thomson Reuters ($40 billion) and Thomson Financial in Sydney and Auckland. I bring deep expertise across both B2B (9yrs) and B2C (10yrs) marketing.

In these roles I’ve been responsible for marketing strategies and leadership, digital strategies, GTM strategies, brand management, copywriting and UX writing, design management and execution, and multi-channel marketing campaign execution to grow business and revenue globally and in the APAC region.

I have strong experience across the full customer lifecycle, from acquisition and growth, to engagement and loyalty, and retention. My broad marketing expertise covers brand management and marketing, marketing communications, product marketing, content marketing, loyalty programs, partnership marketing, social media, digital marketing, website/digital platform management and digital product design.

I have a wealth of experience marketing a broad mix of products and services; a digital entertainment and collecting platform, financial services, corporate solutions, SaaS products, apps, personal loans, credit cards, payment solutions, banking products, Amex Offers, retail electronics, and SaaS work and HR solutions.

In my app business Splendrous – I designed and built five iOS iMessage Sticker Apps; Love from, All Talk, Christmas Greetings, Kiwi Slang and Ozzie Slang, plus clothing and merchandise. Three of these apps got to #1 in the App Store.

I’m passionate about marketing, digital and design. I have a customer first attitude and always think of the end-to-end customer experience. I have a creative mind, enjoy problem solving, and have an eye for detail. I use data, customer feedback, creative thinking, business strategies, problem solving, marketing skills and experience, AI, and research to inform marketing and digital strategies and decisions.

Qualifications

I have multiple qualifications in design, marketing, business management, and leadership – including a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication), a Diploma of Marketing and Communication, a Fundamentals in Digital Marketing Certificate, a Graduate Certificate in Multimedia Design and a Certificate in Leadership Excellence from Harvard Business School to name a few.

Creative Skills

I have extensive copywriting and communications experience and have written for all formats across digital and print as a marketing manager for global corporations and start ups, mostly in financial services. In my business Supr I was freelance journalist for Waterford Press and wrote feature articles for multiple publications; Business Rural South, Business Rural North, Business South, Business North, Business Central, NZ Dairy and more.

I also have extensive experience as a graphic and interactive designer and developer, as this was my former profession before a marketing manager. I had a freelance graphic design business for several years in New Zealand and I worked as a digital designer and developer for three years for interactive companies in Auckland and Sydney at Cadre Design, The learning Group and Sunshine Multimedia. I also worked as a marketing manager and designer at Thomson Financial, Thomson Reuters and Nasdaq. I have also designed many graphics and website pages at VeVe, Employment Hero and Harmoney.

I enjoy the art of storytelling – whether it’s writing telling a brand story, copy writing to market a product or service, or enjoying storytelling myself through books, film, streaming media and television. I’m a huge film buff and have an extensive film collection and multiple streaming services subscriptions!

Leadership

I have over 10 years leadership experience and have led small teams in many of my marketing roles managing; marketing coordinators, marketing interns, graphic designers, customer service specialists, digital specialists, web developers and web designers. I like to create a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within a team. I believe in strengths-based leadership and setting clear goals and KPI’s for the team. My leadership style is mostly a mix of coaching and supporting styles, but occasionally I use delegation and directing leadership styles if required. My leadership experience is supported by a Certificate in Leadership Excellence from Harvard Business School.

Personal life

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends and family. I have a love of film, streaming media and TV and I have an extensive film collection and multiple streaming subscriptions.

I love design, architecture and designer fashion. I enjoy dining out and travelling and experiencing other cultures and seeing the world.

My next goal is to write and illustrate some children’s books.
